Maria Costa born in Detroit A Latin American – Actress/Comedian and Writer. She attended her undergraduate at “Wayne State University”, where she immersed herself in Chicano-Boricua Studies and theatre. She began her career performing in such plays as “For Colored Girls Who Have Committed Suicide When the Rainbow is Enuf”. Maria practices to pay it forward by sharing her time, talent in nurturing minds of high-risk children and youth teaching Latin dance in under-served communities. Ms. Costa is known as the Latin version of World known female comedian Lucille Ball and a female comedian version of John Leguizamo. Ms. Costa is an “Alma Award Nominee”. Awards include: “2012 Kresge Artist Fellow for Her Body of Work”, “ Top 10 Performance of the Year” from the Armed Forces covering 16 cities in 6 countries. In addition, the producers award from “Imagen Foundation” Best known for her performance in “Macho Men and the Women Who Love Them”. Costa has starred in several primetime television shows like “Ugly Betty”, Lifetime’s “Strong Medicine”, CBS’s “Joan of Arcadia”.
